Real Madrid (and some random ramblings)

Reallll Madriddd!

Okay so last Sunday I went to the Real Madrid soccer game with Megan, as many of you know if you read my last post. Boy was it an experience. I was excited but also a little apprehensive just because I was really tired from spending a lot of time with Rob and his friends over the past couple of days, and it was kind of a late game. But once we got there I was really excited. Our seats were not the greatest, but that's what you get for being cheap. We could see decently well and my camera has a decent zoom so I got some good pictures. The stadium was pretty much packed. It was insane and every single person was ecstatic to be there. There was such a positive energy, it would be hard not to be excited.

So many people!

Before the game started, the Real Madrid basketball team came out onto the field with their trophy because I guess they either won a championship game or a tournament or something of that nature. Then the game started and it was a good one. Real Madrid crushed the other team 5-0. Although it was fun to watch, I think it would've been even cooler if the game was a bit closer. There's nothing like watching a tense soccer game that has evenly matched teams. But I still had a good time. Ronaldo scored so I was happy. He's my favorite player on that team (plus he's Portuguese- big plus in my book now), although they have quite a few players I enjoyed watching. Their skill level was incredible. I know that they have to be excellent to be able to play for such a well known team, but watching them was beyond my expectations. I was literally in awe half of the time. I'm definitely considering going to another game, because it was seriously one of the most fun things I have done since I've been here. I wish the Champion's league games weren't so expensive because I think it would be awesome to watch them play Barcelona or a similar team.

Line to get into the metro- so long!

Watching the game was really exciting and it made me miss soccer a lot. I thought back to all the years I played (GLSA girls, you understand). I can't believe I played competitive soccer for 10 year. I never really realized how big a part of soccer has been in my life until now since I've always been able to play one way or another, whether it's competitive or just intramural or goofing around with friends. Now in Madrid, I haven't found a place to play. Philosoraptors, I hope you are kicking some butt this season, I miss playing with you guys. I was actually looking through pictures from freshman year, and it made me miss my 4th floor fuszers a lot. You guys are awesome. We had some good times and made some great memories. Anyway, done rambling now. That was my Real Madrid experience. It was a great way to wrap up an awesome week. This weekend I am going on a retreat to Loyola (North of Spain) with the school. I'm not sure what exactly to expect, but I'm excited. That's all for now.

Miss the State of Unit 4

Love,
Ashley
