Hey everyone!
As most of you probably know by now, I am studying abroad in Madrid, Spain this semester. This is my blog that will document my travels and experiences while I'm over there for those of you who are interested in reading. I hope it's not too boring and those of you reading it find it somewhat enjoyable.
For this post I figured I would just talk about my break and preparations for leaving. This break has been great but way too short. Two and a half weeks is not a long time to see old friends, spend time with family and pack everything up/get ready. After finals, my mom came down to help me pack up all my stuff and move out of my apartment. I'm going to miss my roommates a lot, especially Julianne because we got really close over this semester. I'll miss them and everyone I'm friends with at SLU. It was really hard to say goodbye to everyone and I'm going to miss them a lot.
When I got home, I had a few days to visit with some friends. It was nice because I hadn't seen them in awhile, especially my friend Kelly who I hadn't seen in a year. It was nice catching up. On christmas, my mom, Daniel and I drove up to Minnesota to surprise my grandparents and visit my mom's side of the family. I hadn't seen them in over a year so it was nice to visit and see how much all my little cousins have grown. I also got to go to lunch with my friend Paige, who I've known since we were little babies. It was a very enjoyable trip and I was glad I got to go.
After returning to libertyville, I started to spend time with people and packing up. I've seen a lot of people over this short amount of time, which I am grateful for because I wasn't sure if I would be able to see this many people. For those of you I have hung out with thank you for spending time with me and for those who I won't get to see before I leave I'm sorry. I would especially like to thank Kelsi, Danielle and Christina for driving up the other day to visit me. I had so much fun with all of you guys and I hope you did too, even if we just hung out and went to b dubs/coldstone. Packing is turning out to be a daunting process and taking much longer than I anticipated. I have more clothes than I thought and it's difficult to go through all of them and decide what I will need to wear the next four months, and to make sure that it will all fit in two bags. I'm making it through most of it though and I'm almost done.
Well that about sums it up for now. I'll make a new post once I get to Spain and get settled. Not sure when exactly that will be, but hopefully it'll be Sunday once I'm all moved into my host mom's apartment. I'm excited and nervous, but I don't feel like I'm leaving yet. It hasn't hit me yet. It probably won't until I'm on the plane with Megan. But all that will come in my next post.
Love,
Ashley
