Segovia and More

Hello Friends!

Well I would just like to start out by saying I absolutely LOVE not having Friday classes. It makes my life so much easier. Friday Megan and I were being really lazy. We went out to lunch at a cafe near our apartment. It was really good and relatively cheap. The only down-side was the couple hard core making out one table away. It was not a pretty sight. I am entirely in love with Madrid, but there are a few things that get on my nerves. The amount of PDA here is ridiculous and wildly inappropriate. It makes me super uncomfortable. Also disgusting- the amount of people who smoke. Seriously I am going to die from all the second hand smoke. Next, I do not enjoy the amount of dog poop on the sidewalks. People walk their dogs all over, and they are all very well behaved dogs, but they don't pick up after them! It's really gross. Other than that the city is abnormally clean. I am impressed. Basically that is my little rant about things I do not like in Madrid.

Anywayyy, after lunch Megan and I ventured over to the bus station to book our tickets for Barcelona. We got off at the wrong metro stop so we had to ask 2 separate security guards/ police men to help us find it. But they were very helpful and it was good interaction with the locals. After that we came back and chilled. The 4 roommates all played taboo and just talked. We have had many good bonding nights.

Saturday was a fun day. My roommates and I met up with this girl named Kelsey to go on a cable car ride over Madrid. It was really fun and cool to see Madrid from a different point of view. We also got to walk around in a park area and explore. After we were done doing that, we walked around Plaza Espana. They were celebrating the chinese new year, so we got to enjoy some interesting sights. We all split some tapas for lunch then headed home. After dinner, us 4 roommates headed over to a rope park near our apartment to play on. It was really fun and way more difficult than I expected. I have bruises in places that should not have bruises. But I was able to make it across the whole thing without falling on my first try :) (yay ashley! although being the klutz that I am I almost fell a few times). Then we headed back for more chill time.

Today we went on a school trip to Segovia, which is about an hour away from Madrid. It's known for a Roman Aqueduct that was built over 2000 years ago. And it was also supposedly built with not mortar, which is a little frightening to me. But it was very cool to see. We got a tour of the city and we got to see the Segovia cathedral and a fortress/palace that resembles Snow White's castle apparently. It was a really pretty place to just walk around and look at old architecture. All the buildings around here are mostly older architecture, which I really like the design of. Not that I have anything against modern architecture, but I am more drawn to older design. Okay enough for about my preference in how buildings look. That's about it for now. We shall see what this week holds in store. I have my first acting performance coming up soon. We will see how that goes. Anyway, done for real now.
